Colour for me..The B&W needs more contrast. Colour could use a little more contrast as well

    Nice composition,

The colour for me works great. You have the brown river against the green and then the grey of the castle. Nice picture. The one thing that would have been worth trying is a slower shutter speed to smooth out the water abit.

Colour for me too., Burn in the clouds to give it more mood and up the contrast.

Mono would be good but try and bring out more of the castle
a boost of contrast and a bit of burning in them clouds

The colour is the best of the two posted, but with more contrast in the b+w it would improve it.

There seems to be a good bit of red blue abberation on the left hand side noticable on the highest turret.
can you correct this in ps?

Nice composition, and it has potential. I think ultimately I’d prefer the colour. I’d agree that contrast needs upping, and there’s a very distinct magenta cast to the clouds which doesn’t look natural. Is this HDR by chance?

Many thanks for your remarks, all very welcome ,I’ve tried some of the ideas with these two, ie. more contrast, some burning.see what you think.

JML, No hdr here just poor processing I’m afraid

Paul, second b&W conversion is excellent, nice dramatic sky, and nicely boosted contrast in the foreground, thats why second b&W conversion is my choice among these, composition is really nice, although there is little room above highest tower in the left upper corner,,, feels bit tight,..

Yes Martin, the shot was taken from a bridge, and I was trying to get as much of the river in as possable. As well as that I had to do a little cropping to adjust tilt/lens distortion, in Photoshop. I suppose I could do some cloning on the sky just add a little room over the tower.(would that be cheating??).

    Second conversions are much better
There is still some purple fringing on the left side of the tower
And I have the feeling that the whole is slightly rotated CCW – even
if you cropped etc in PS
