Maybe they just have a great sense of humour in the Inagh Valley.
Reminds me of some of the odd signs we saw in the West in 1989 (on our honeymoon).
The change from miles to km was under way and it was common to see “Galway 30”
followed 5 miles later by “Galway 40”. Combined with the condition of the road surface
it made for interesting journeys!
Pete, such things have been, and are, accepted as being part of the charm of Connemara. I once read a travel book in which the over-enthusiastic author described the Connemara rain as “benign”; I always found it to be wetting.
