Alot of potential in that wee tree, I would try and get a composition were the hedges in the background are not merging into the trunk of the tree, as with this shot., maybe shoot a lower point, with more sky than ground behind the tree. Either change your angle or the DOF. This will also look great with a nice bit of white frost on the ground or even as an IR shot.

    A fairy tree perhaps Cathal?

I think that this subject has some potential.

    Nice treatment Cathal.

Nice tree Cathal – Only suggestion to add is you should apply the processing that you did to the sky, inbetween the branches also…. a bit painstaking I know but it will be a better image for it.

Never thought of that Andy but i know the greenkeeper well and will ask him
it is one of very very few trees on this golf course so it a good possibility

Excuse the dumb question from a “non-national”, but what’s a fairy tree?

Cathal really like the toning on this and as said above has lots of potential.

    Mike,

A fairy tree is usually a hawthorn or holly tree that you will often see on its own in the middle of farmers fields. The farmers will never cut them down because it will bring bad luck in the form of fairy curses.
