Award submission has to be in on the 11th and I will go to Belfast on the train with it – now the questions:
1) Photography shops worth visiting in Belfast, nb am in a wheelchair and will rely on taxi.
2) I am considering skipping asking for finance for photography tuition as I think that I should pick it up myself and that way I will HAVE to learn and maybe stuff on the computer/sites etc will help on the way. What do you folks think?
3) Would like to ask for memory cards – which hold alot, what make do you suggest and where would I get quotes from. I have a Canon 450D EOS
4) got a half day tuition voucher for the Canon, on buying but never took it up, anyone know how I can?
5) Would like to ask for quantities of Papers A3, to try as I plan to do semi pro work, any suggestions of what kinds. I have an EPson Stylus 24000
6) I would like to ask for some software packages for Digital Art, any suggestions of one or two kinds any of you have used would be grateful.
Am panicking a bit now. This is SO important to me.
7) Anyone aware of a small tutorial either on site or small booklet form which will help me to clean up my housework and get my system out of its dire mess with all my images all over the place? :?TompixBandonMemberAnn,
On the point about organising your images on disk, I have been using Adobe Lightroom for processing and cataloguing and I find it does a good job. You don’t need to move the files around, you can import them from where they are into Lightroom’s catalogue and then manage them with keyword searches, etc afterwards.
You can get a free trial at http://www.adobe.com/uk/downloads/Best wishes.
Tom.

3) Sandisk 4gb should work great with your camera.
5) I really like the epson semi gloss paper, has a nice look and feel to it, other than that, the harman range is nice and permajet, it all dpends on what finish you wnat on the paper yourself.
6) Lightroom is cheap and really good, alot of users on this forum use it and get fantastic results, you should also have gotten a copy of photoshop elements with your printer which is also a good package.
7) I usually create a folder for example 2008 then inside create a folder for each month and inside that i create a date folder for example 1.10.08 then i can search by date. I batch name everything on photoshop to make the search faster and inside the date folder i create a folder (usually called “finished” or something like that) which contains any finished post processing work. But as far as i can remeber i think light room has a good organisation built in to it.I hope i have answered some of your questions
BannkenParticipantThanks Ben,
thats great! actually I found Calumet on googling this afternoon, funny that! Will visit.
All the other ideas good too.
Shall look into all.
xxAnnben4130ParticipantAlso a side note, if you are on a budget, 7dayshop.com does memory cards extremely cheap, the sandisk ultra 2 and extreme 3 gor for a steal there, its worth loking at for alot of equipment.
