Haven’t posted anything in a while..been busy doing my thing on stage in Sweeney Todd..but now that is all done and dusted is time to start putting my new D300 through it’s paces.

Here is a shot I took during the band call for the show which I rather like: Think it’s my first post in this section as well :-)

    Plenty of detail there Robbie.

What lens did you use and how are you finding the D300 ?

    Sure is Mick.

Without checking the Exif, I’m pretty sure his was the Nikkor 50mm 1.8. I didn’t want to use flash, so it’s my only real option for low light at the moment.

To be honest, I haven’t had enough time to play with the D300 much since I got it. But I’m pretty impressed so far with the images that are coming direct from the camera. They don’t seem to need as much touching up in PS as the D80, and of course it’s much better with high ISO settings..which is one of the main reasons I wanted it in the first place.

This particular shot was taken at iso 500, which I reckon would show definite graining on the D80. Oh and checked and it is the 50mm at f1.8.

So, so far I’m impressed :-)

Cheers Robbie agree with you on the processing have not really used mine yet on the high ISO settings
the only thing i am trying to set mine properly for is sports shots. The 50 mm is a cracking lens which i am
going to use a lot more in the furure.

Excellent detail in the shot! Have you tried a mono conversion?
