Some photos from melbourne zoo.
It was overcast on the day and I had trouble capturing sharp images due to the low light.
Hope you like them tho. All comments welcome. (posted some other OZ photos in some of the other forums)shutterbugParticipantJust wondering what lens and settings you used, the Koala seems to be the
sharpest of the bunch, I love the snow leopard and tiger just a pity they are
not sharp, the tiger especially would have been a cracker.Owen28ParticipantHi Shutter bug.
the lens was a tamron 70-300mm for all pics (not the most expensive, got it on ebay for around €120, but didn’t what to spend any more until i know alot more).I had a quick look at the photo data and they were all taken with aperture priority, I tried to bump up the ISO, but as it was hand held and the day got very very overcast and dark I couldn’t get a fast enough shutter speed, plus it was a very nice zoo with lots of trees, which sadly blocked what little light there was. Oh ya nearly forgot some of them where shot through glass, so that didn’t help. (there was one lady there are the same time with a tripod and expensvie looking equipment and I was really tempeted to ask her for a lend of her tripod.. but didn’t have the nerv).
For the Koala, this was actualy taken on the great ocean road, another day altogether (with lots of light), He (or she not sure) just woke up and was climping down the tree for some food, which was very lucky because the tour dude said it is very hard to get to see one that is active and not asleep.
Thanks for taking the time to look at them, have you any recommendations or comments for a beginner.

shutterbugParticipantTamron are good lenses, the best advice I can offer is get yourself a tripod and use it,
and putting up your ISO will help in low light but at the risk of noise, whereas using a tripod
will let you use a slower shutter speed, and just keep on taking lots.
