I’m at present just beginning to get into photography. I bought myself a D60 during the summer and have been trying it out since. I plan on taking part in a course after christmas. I’m going over to the states for christmas and i know equipment is much cheaper over there and plan on buying a bit. I was thinking that i would like a zoom lens as i like to take pictures at matches etc where i cant always get in close also someone told me to get a flash. Which zoom lens and which flash are the best to get for a beginner. I dont think i should spend too much on them as i am only beginning. Thanks a mil.
If you’re looking for cheap I can recommend this lens http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/70300_di_a017.asp
It’s given me quite good results and also doubles as a pretty decent macro lens.
Check out the paintball and (most) macro shots on my flickr, they’ve all been taken with this one.
I’ve had it for nearly 3 years and so far didn’t feel the need to upgrade to anything more expensive… the focus can be a bit slow, but if it’s fast enough for paintball, I guess it’s fast enough for any other sport.
The nikon 55-200 VR is a very decent zoom lens, I also have the Sigma 70-300 APO which isn’t bad at all for the money and has more reach, but the VR is handy for shooting still distant subjects.
Flash wise, the SB-600 is excellent, and can offer wireless off camera flash if the D60 supports it (the D70 did, not sure about the D60). Worth teh extra over the SB400 in my book.
thanks a million guys any suggestions on any other things that i will need later on. have priced that flash and it works out at 100 cheaper to get it in the states
