Your strongest photo of 2008
-
SteveDParticipant
With 2008 drawing to a close, I thought it might be nice to start a thread where we can all showcase what we feel to be our strongest image from the year.
One photo only please!
My strongest image:
Reason: I feel this is one of the best composed photographs in my gallery, and as such represents a standard I would like to try and build upon.
BallymanParticipantMy strongest image:
Reason: I only picked up a camera half way through 2008 so it was a pretty easy choice for me as most of my stuff is still pretty poor although I hope this one shows I am improving somewhat.
andy mcinroyParticipantReason: It was one of those evenings that you only get once or twice a year. It was the type of evening that has me jumping up and down behind the camera while I’m exposing the shots. I had planned my position carefully for the strong sidelighting of a setting sun and I knew that my patience would be rewarded.
cathaldParticipantREASON I like this as i almost didn’t get it as i thought the light was going to be crap as was about to go home but a few minutes later the sky turned pure red.Patience is the key.
BMParticipantReason: This was taken on the PI trip to Port in Donegal which was one of the few excursions that I was able to go on this year. I met some great people and had a great time. The response on PI to this picture was a great reward for the time I took setting up the photograph and arranging the trip.
JodyParticipantReason: This is from our tour of New Zealand. I think the tones really work well for the shot as well as the wide angle making the eye lead into the image from the grass on the left, and the rocks lead in from the rights

Reason: It was one of those places that you see and say that it would look good on a frosty morning with a fog on the river and I had seen it during the summer with that in mind. And it happened on the first visit last February.Alan
richiehatchMemberIts probably this one. This place is a 20 min drive from my house. Seen the cloud
forming while at home eating my tea. Grabbed the camera, filters, tripod, car keys
and child and got there in 15mins…! Shot for literally 10 mins and then ran for the
car before a crazy hail storm hit and it rained for the rest of the evening..!Richie
randomwayMemberDefinitely the best moment this year was this one. I can’t call any of my images “strong”, but this would be the most memorable for me so far this year…
..and the strongest photo is yet to be taken ;)
plainoldmeMemberThis. Strongest for me, I think, but not the strongest over all in the context of this site.
Reason: Because I’ve never been a prime photographer at any event for any person other than family before. And I made the parents really happy, that was the rewarding part. Once they were happy….I didn’t feel so bad that I’m not THAT good.
ChristianpParticipantMaybe not the strongest shot, but definitely one of the most exciting and memorable to take.
fstop89564Participantossie13ParticipantMine…………….and not just because it won POTM
Cheers Steve
p.s. All above very strong images, well done one & all!!!!
wirepicParticipantLike others here I don’t know if this can be called strong but it is my favourite of the year.
Reason: Well this is Mallorca. Good contrast to the normal Sun, Sea and Sand seen in the brochures!
