Taken last Sunday morning at Benvoy,Co.Waterford….great morning
for photography…very cold at the coast though.Noel Browne.
darraghParticipantLove the light in this, beautifully caught.
I have seen a few shots of this place and I really have to visit itDarragh
cathaldParticipantThat’s nice Noel with the great colours in the sky shining on the foreground rocks
Where is this place is it down Waterford area?brownieParticipantThanks Cathal…just sent Darragh an in-depth PM to the same question
about where it is…take the coast road from Tramore to Annestown…carry
on travelling through Annestown heading along the coast road to Bonmahon,
unfortunately this beach is’nt signposted…its about 3/4 mile outside Annestown
on a very bad bend..this road is quiet bendy anyway…if you go wrong you will
reach Boatstrand…another great place…but you will have passed Benvoy.
Heading from Annestown, there are’nt too many left turns…so you will find it.
Mabye a few of ye should head down this way sometime soon..the whole
coastline along here is great for photography and the sun is rising and setting
over the sea at the moment.Noel Browne.
robmgraMemberbrownieParticipantThanks Rob…as i said already..the sunrise is in the right position at
the moment but this wo’nt last for long as it will disappear behind the
cliffs in a few weeks…very dull down here for the last week anyhow.Noel Browne.
darraghParticipantNoel,
How far does the tide go out at low tide?
I went down to Benvoy on Friday but the light totally sucked and the tide was way too far in to make anything interesting, only took a few scouting shots.I am definitely going back there as soon as the weather and the tide co-operate, it looks like there is quite a few stunning shots to be got from it.
Darragh
brownieParticipantThe tide goes out at least another 100 mts beyond where
it is in my photo…well past the stack of high rocks in
the picture and you then can get great shots looking
up the beach and cliffs to the right towards Boatstrand.Noel Browne.
JMcLParticipantNice one Noel, lovely light on the rocks.
Lots of good low tide rocks on the beach just below the car park, also on the next beach over (go right when you come down the steps, and go past the 2 sea stacks). Be warned though – this does ge cut off!
John
brownieParticipantThanks John….great place alright…just got the 2009
tide book and will be giving it a good look over this
weekend…more trips out there i hope in the next few
weeks.Noel Browne.
darraghParticipantNoel,
Any weekends in the next few weeks with low or out going tide at sunrise? Thanks
Darragh
JMcLParticipantDarragh, low water is around 11am this weekend, so there’ll be a falling tide at sunrise. It’ll be high tide the week after that at around 8:30am, not sure about the following week as I don’t have my 09 tide tables to hand
