cathaldParticipant
Hi guys I was offered this gear from a guy I know and was wondering is it anygood
He is looking around £100-150 pounds sterling for it
The writing on the note he gave me is not the best but I think this is the listMeopta opemus 6 enlarger and color 3 head
Durst neonon 2.8 50mm lens
Viponel enlarger timer
Set of multigrade filters and filter holder
Paterson enlarger expos meter
darkroom lamp
micro focus finder
print tongs
Pat test strip printer
pat 35mm developing tank
jobo 35mm developing tank for 2 films
Durst tank for 10 x 8jb7ParticipantI don’t know the enlarger, never used that make-
Maybe it does medium format too, if you change the lens…but the price for the kit sounds good-
I don’t know how much it would cost to amass all that kit,
but you’ll get use out of all of it-I wonder what a Durst 8×10 tank is?
Do you think he means a tray?j
MartinParticipantI’m no expert on enlargers only playing at this a few months now.
From the research I did on enlargers a few months back that sounds like a good enlarger. All parts are still available for them. There well built enlargers. That enlarger can print up to 6×6 negs if im correct. The lens coming with it is a 50mm which will by fine for 35mm film, you would have to get an 80mm or so for 6×6 negs (medium format camera) but these are cheap enough on ebay.
Check the lens though, make sure the glass is clean
Id go with it… just get printing… its your first enlarger after 12 months you can change it or what ever when you know more… Give him a 100 for it…
Welcome on board its great crack….
MBarkerPhotographicParticipantThe Opemus 6 is a good enlarger, as mentioned there are currently no problems with parts, although the Colour heads are not available new at present. The kit is suitable to print Multigrade B&W using the colour head which is handy as you won’t have to mess around with filters in a drawer etc. The Drum would have been used if you were printing Colour prints as these had to be processed in near total darkness.
FintanParticipantNo mention of condition, if the enlarger, head and timer are working well and the lens is clear of fungus and scratches this is a good deal.
If not, I’d pass.
cathaldParticipantThanks for advice guys I will be seeing the guy next week to view the stuff and I will see what condition the gear is in.
I will keep you posted.Cathal
EddieParticipantThis is the enlarger I currently use. Its a fine machine, that lens on offer is quite good also. If you intend doing 6*6 try pick up a Nikon enlarging lens around 80mm on e-bay, they are quite cheap now. Happy printing.
mariusklParticipantDamn, you can get those lens really cheap. In my country they cost a lot so I can’t afford them :(
