  hi guys,

  im headin off the nyc at the end of the month and am planning on buying a lens or two.
  am looking at the sigma, tamron and tokina versions of the above mentioned lens.
  i know they all vary sloghtly in lenght.
  anyone have any experiance with these and which is best ect.

  also looking for a good lens for gigs prob the 85mm 1.8. but any suggestions
  would be much appreciated. anyways any info much appreciated.

  Perhaps you should ask in Lens section!
  I can’t tell much about Tokina, but sigma 18-50 comes with HSM wich is very handy, Tamron is very sharp and is got some good reviews no HSM though. Not sure what are you going to use it for, sigma’s focus will perform better in low light situations.

  I have the sigma version and find it to be a great lens. Good IQ, focusing and build quality. I have heard that the Tamron outperforms it slightly in terms of IQ.

  I have heard nothing but excellent comments regarding the 85mm f/1.8.

  Not sure how many lenses you are planning on buying but I recently bought the 70-200 f/4 in NYC. Incredible lens…..

  thanks for the feed back, cam i ask you where you bought it?
  did you have to pay duty ect on it.

  hey I bought it at B n H Photo. They are really good. Check out their website. As for duty. I didn’t declare mine. Took it out of packaging and made like it had always being part of my kit. Not sure what I would have had to pay if I did declare….
