Am I being unreasonable?

I’ve sold a manfrotto pan and tilt tripod head (a 128RC) on ebay, and the buyer is not happy, saying there is a lot of play in both axes when the pan and tilt locking clamps are undone. I did not notice any play in the head, and I would expect some (albeit a very small amount indeed) of play to be introduced when the locking nuts are undone. The fluid damped movement was smooth and precise, certainly more so than my 460MG that replaced it. He also states that an adjustment screw (that I for one never knew existed) is seized so he cannot make the adjustment to fix the play in one of the axis.

Am I wrong in this assumption? should there be absolutely no play in such a head whether the locking nuts are tight or loose? Saying that I never noticed any such play in use!

    Thanks all

It’s quite possible he’s using heavier equipment than you-
ask him what he’s using it to support-

There should be a guide from manfrotto showing what the head is intended for-
if you’ve used lighter gear than this,
then the issue might never have become apparent to you-

if he’s using heavier gear, it will be more apparent to him-

In my experience, any kind of articulated head is less than totally rigid,
and I’ve never had a particularly rigid manfrotto head-

Still saving for an Arca Z1…
