Snow again on the Knockmeldowns

Taken in Feb 09. 2nd pic is of Mount Mellary Abbey, with snow in the background. Any C & C welcome please.
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantthe horizont line of the first image looks funny. did you cut that out? Also watch the sky, the colour is “breaking out” and the cyan looks very strong. The first one is my fav but needs some help Cheers Madeleine
DALYA00ParticipantThanks Madeleine-I just used curves to tweak the first pic a bit and also increased the saturation. I dont know about the horizontal line in the pic.
AliceSeaviewParticipantTwo nice shots Alice, the first one the saturation is certainly pushed a bit too far. I really like the composition of your second shot, this is one of my favourite locations as I spent a lot of youth in the mountains above Mellary. I also took some shots up there last weekend but haven’t got around to processing them yet.
Dave.
DALYA00ParticipantThanks Dave – The saturation is definately OTT. See the same pic below as it was shot before messing with PS. I love the Mellary region and the Vee and I go there frequently. There is a beautiful valley when you go over the Vee towards Clogheen. In June, it is covered with beautiful purple flowers – just magic.
AliceSeaviewParticipantYes your quite right Alice, that region has some lovely spots and it’s not that well know or over crowed either.
Dave.
RestlessNativeMemberThe first one, and I will ignore the way oversaturated version, compositionally does nothing for me. The 50/50 split leaves a big area of uninteresting feilds and the perspective is just uninspiring. I like the single cloud but it needs to be part of a more dramatic landscape.
The second one has a rather snapshot I took walking through a field look to it. Get closer to the Abbey maybe, use a wide angle.
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantHi Alice, maybe horizon line is the wrong word ( ; the outline of the mountains has pixelsteps. On my screan the blue-cyan looks very poisoning. I would adapt the blues a bit to make it look more natural. Try out, i am sure it will benefit the image. Cheers Madeleine
