Sorry but nothing against the images that you’ve posted it, but IMO I just really have a distaste for people who name there threads with something that visually has nothing to do with what the work is on display. The thread title intrigued me to click on it to see what the photos were and then on once finding out that they have nothing to do with the title, it just frustrates me.
randomwayMemberNo connection that you would see… but I gave the title that I gave… and not to mislead you.
jb7Participantvery good Zoltan-
and an actual abstract image-
you don’t see many of those around these parts-I’ve been trying to figure out what the collar stiffener thing is,
but I can’t-I think the textures work really well together-
not an easy thing to do- and they seem nicely composed, and work well as a pair-I wasn’t at all disappointed to see it, quite the opposite-
reminds me of how much I’m looking forward to making some prints-It’s a good title- and to be personally challenged on taste issues, it must be Art-
so well done-j
nfl-fanParticipantI’m browsing on the phone, so can’t really see the images well enough to comment… but… I can certainly see an opportunity for PI’s next craze… The Zoltan inspired Whacky Title Week!
With Serious Week set to start Monday I’ll try my best to squeeze one in tomorrow, just to get the idea out there, with maybe a full scale promotion in the coming weeks.
Well done Zoltan… you’ve inspired yet another nfl-wave.
randomwayMemberOK, I put up the pictures for critique, which includes the title, so they can be scrutinized, yes… but… I will say it once more, I am serious about the title. Calling it whacky is almost an insult.
I knew you weren’t ready for my art.
Poulet et Lait…MemberrandomwayMemberthe stigMemberrandomwayMemberThanks for the comments guys, they were really useful. I appreciate your input. I will take your ideas on board.
.. and thanks for your attention.
mgstParticipantI dont get the title but as an abstract it works very well and black and white suits.
It looks good and it’s different so fair play to ya.

jessthespringerParticipantI love them, Zoltan…
Very different and very refreshing.
There is such a range in tones and textures, I think it’s quite an articulated study of form.
Which is perhaps the single biggest difference, in a Photographer and someone with a camera… Ability to see form.As for the title, well, I think it’s really rather beautiful…
Now, I don’t want to get into the whole mess of crit on crit,
but on this this occasion, I find myself unable to bite my tongue…I have to say, I find it really amusing at how quickly people are willing to dismiss, what they have little understanding of.
On the plus side though, I think it’s a lot like the ‘mother’ test.Every now and again, I’ll show a picture to my mum, every now and again, she might say something like “pfff, don’t think much of that”
That’s usually when I know, I just might have something good…I’m quite sure this would pass
randomwayMemberI hate to defend or explain my photos. The point is exactly, that my english is not good enough for self expression, that’s the only reason why I’m taking photos.
These are simple photograms, made spontaneously from the things that I found around in the darkroom. I manipulated and arranged them in a way that I liked at the moment and thought of a title that came into mind first looking at the prints. I quite like it, it’s not like the usual routine of picking up a camera, setting it up, checking exposure and composition, etc… it’s just composition and light. It’s almost like free writing.
If anything has to take the blame for the title, it’s my messed up thoughts.
I was trying to be ironic about my “art” above, but it looks like some still take me seriously, so I just went on with it.
Sorry for the attention craving thread (even if it wasn’t intentional)… to be honest, I am trying to prove here that abstract is further away from what I usually see in this section, and I wanted to provoke some thoughts. I am happy, that some of you actually looked at the images, and not got stuck at the ‘misleading’ title.
Jess: You are not alone with your ultimate test. My mom sometimes looks at my photos, and she hates this experimental stuff. She always says, I should be taking nice landscapes or people photos instead… so I guess, I’m heading in the right direction.
