It’s guide number is 45, 580EXII is 58.
It only goes down to 1/16 power, 580ex goes down to 1/128 (good for short burst hi-speed photography)
it zooms to 85mm, 580 goes to 105.
Recycle time seems reasonable.
Looks good for the money though. Certainly not a drop-in replacement for the 580ex2, but not bad.
I’ve no idea about build quality, though. 580ex2 is built like a tank. :)
I have never heard of this brand, I have no experience of it, but I learned the hard way with tools many times over, it may look great and tick all the right boxes ….but you get what you pay for. I bet if you could just feel it in comparison to the Canon you would not but it!
Save up for another while and get one of the Canon models.
I was talking with the guy from Metz Flashes at the show in the Green Isle Hotel last week. They have have flashes of similar, or greater, power than their Canon/Nikon/Sony equivalents. And they’re cheaper too. I was also told that they’re fully compatible with each manufacturer’s wireless flash systems.
DML are the importers and they’ll let you try one out on your camera,
