the first one works best for me.

the second you havent composed it very well, with him looking out of the frame to the left you’d want a little more negative space for him to look into, he is too centered.

the third is nice, but you have boxed his head in top and bottom – looks awful

I’m for the second – the lighting is way better — you do need to keep an eye on your crop ;)

Bit of a mixed opinion on these.

The third image for me though the crop is a bit tight particularly on the chin if you had room on original you might try a different crop. On the second image i find the contrasting shadow/highlight between nose and left eye area a bit harsh

Mmmm, no 1, because of those eyes, they look right through you..

It’s the third shot for me due to the lighting ratio. But the crop is all wrong though, it’s too tight from the bottom up.

Like the first, though the shadow in the evesocket adds a tiredness to the image.

Is the light too strong or too near the subject???

And what everyone else sez about the crop

Found an image to crop better, but does the lighting work?

The last one for me, although I preferred the 3rd on the first set posted. Nice use of lighting on all three.

For sure the last shot. I think the lighting works well. -Sometimes doing it simple is all it takes…
