So my obsession with flowers is in full swing right now, love getting some shots each day even though I don’t have time to leave the house between college work and everything else!
Some of tonight’s efforts when I really should have been writing my stats report. Ah well

I wouldn’t normally find the will to comment on flower shots – it just doesn’t appeal to me but these really stand out for me as exceptional. Did you use a torch to illuminate these? The narrow band of light gives the image something else different than most still life flower shots. I’m assuming the reflection is just that and not a post processing add-in and as a whole the set works perfectly.

    EDIT – I saw your other post – marble and a torch…interesting!

Thanks Alan I really appreciate your comments!

I finally found my niche, I really like interesting still lifes!

Yeah this was the torch technique again, although not on a marble fireplace, this was on the kitchen table which is black glass. Worked out well too :)

Really happy with some of these things, and it’s just so easy!

I’ve tried mucking around with relfections for last months comp and it is not that easy – well for me anyway. I was havinf real trouble with lighting – these are very good and as pointed out work really well as a set.

Great set of still-life pics there Ms O’Dowd!

Btw, if you really get into this you could earn a bit of money by selling such images to stock picture libraries. I would suggest you do some research, but the beauty of these pics is that YOU create the light rather than hoping to chance upon it such as a landscaper has to do.

    Well done. :D

Thanks George! I had looked into micro stock and things like that before but… I don’t know it seems like a lot of hassle! Especially when most of them don’t pay out until you hit something like $100 in credits…
