When exposing a test strip in the darkkroom, which filter would you guys recommend ? To date I’ve been using Ilford’s 3.5 filter but lately have been reading that 2 seems to be the prefered choice as a good starting point.

I use 2.5 most of the time to get started. find it helps me decide how I am going to print the neg

I do my test strips at grade 5 though for Holga negatives as I always end up printing these at grade 5. If the neg has very little contrast in it I might test strip it at 3.5

Allot of people & books do say grade 2 though. To get you started I would try 2

Cheers Martin, thanks, I’ll try that as a base guide and see how it compares to the 3.5 I’ve been using, at least then I’ll have a comparison
