White Park Bay Pano
-
SteveDParticipant
I have always wanted to create a panoramic image of the view over White Park Bay. I was passing by today on my way along the coast, and the sky was full of drama so I decided to give it a go.
At the end of the surf to the east we have the Ballintoy Elephant area, and to the west of the beach lies Portbradden, with the Causeway Headlands in the distance.
Feedback very welcome…
Thanks,
SteveRaVMemberLooks like a really beautiful location!
I dont have any c&c for this, the skys just perfect, as is the exposure and stitching.great panorama!
MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantstcstcMemberit looks like the horizon is not straight, which i guess is from the panoramic stitch
i do like the look of it though, i might be tempted to take a little off the top to give it a wider feel
joes64ParticipantGood quality image , but its looks strange to my eye. the land is obvoiusly pano but the sky doesnt quite have the pano feel
aoluainParticipantI would agree and disagree with STCSTC . . .
The horizon although bow shaped is not straight but I would’nt crop the sky.
The sky is great, nice pano.
To make it wider as stcstc suggested I would crop the bottom though.

TompixBandonMemberI think it’s a great photo. Would surely look superb printed large.
At this scale (on our monitors), I’m sure a lot of detail is missed.Nice work.
SteveDParticipantHi all, thanks very much for the feedback!
I have checked and double checked, and that horizon is perfectly straight!
jb7ParticipantIf you could make that red line a bit thicker, I might have to agree with you-
but seriously, you can’t be serious?I’ll read that exclamation mark literally…
As the shot seems to be aiming for symmetry, I think the axis seems to be at the point where the surf is lowest-
so I might have liked to see some more on the left to balance the composition-j

Well a 0.1 degree counter-clockwise rotation seems to have nailed it!
Thanks for the balance suggestion, I will have a look at keeping in some more land on the left.
andy mcinroyParticipantWell done Steve, great job with the processing.
The sky is superb and I was lucky enough to see it too.
If you squint you can just about see me down at the elephant rock.
The horizon looks good to me. I think that little section of grey mist makes the horizon look like it undulates a little. It’s just an illusion though.
Nice idea to do the pano on this. I haven’t seen one like this of Whitepark bay before.
SteveDParticipantCheers Andy. You mentioned in another thread how cold it was that evening – I could barely feel my fingers when I took this photo!
