Wooden Things in the Water (PI Groyne Fever Week)

If you seen this scene in real life you’d laugh… these wooden things were about 2 ft off the shore in about 6 inches of water.

I really like it, great colour choice and good compo.

I don’t like the black bits under the posts…they’re rather distracting.

I like this sort of stuff but have always had trouble with getting the sea white like this one. The problem being that you need a bit of a stir in the water to get the whiteness which needs wind but that can move your camera. So you did OK. The colour – the jury is out on that one but it doesn’t take away from the image so it can’t be too bad.

Yup – I can see this on the wall of any Fair City living room.

    Yep,

Like this minimal kind of stuff, nice one J.

I see where Alan is coming regards the colour, normally
these types of shots are B+W but this is nice too.

Who was it last year that posted a number of this type of sea scape . . .?

    Nice one J,

I like this, it looks like a Lough Ness type of creature, heading bottom left, at least to me it does.

    Horizon?

    What’s wrong with horizon, Pixelle?

    Looks fine to me. :?

This would look great at poster size, I’d say.

    Welll done John. :D

Looks like dip to left, maybe it’s the monitor..

    Thanks everyone.

Alan – I think that might be McMartin you are referring to. Seemed like a nice chap. I don’t find these sort of pictures particulary challenging, once you find anything that will sit well in the water and you have a horizon and some trace of sky it’s all a bit simple after that. The hardest part is calculating the 10 stop differential which I often mess up by a stop in one direction or the other. I recall asking to see something different from him and we never seen him again :?

That looks good to me, nicely composed, as has been mentioned-

These pictures do have a look to them, but I suppose that’s the point-
Even U2 seem to have pushed it into the mainstream-
    maybe they hang out here?

Come on lads, you know where to go for your next cover…

Alan’s comment about the Fair City thing was a bit cruel,
    but could have been worse-
Have you checked out the wallpapers and borders in em, Eastenders,
Ricky’s ex mot, forget her name, red haired one?

This would calm things down no end…

Fair City… no idea what he was talking about. I thought only ‘aul mollies watched that?

That would be Bianca right… red hair, corned beef face? Eastenders is more legitter cos of the Mitchell Bros.

I wonder how much U2 paid for their effort? I mean that was the simplest of them all… not a pier, rock or wooden thing for miles.

U2 could be in a spot of bother:

Can’t see it being a worry though – they both look similar but the sea does, doesn’t it?

Ah now JB, not cruel. Some nice images adorn the wobbly walls of Fair City. You should take a look. Me – unfortunately I bought a 42″ LCD only to be dictated to by 3 kids and a woman as to what goes on it. Thank God for the interwebthingy.

As a matter of interest John – where was this?

You know that little stretch of mickey mouse beach in to the right just before you head down the main stretch of road to the Wildfowl reserve?

There’s a concrete and timber structure which leads into the water. These are the last few bits of timber.

    wow, Sugimoto-
    I didn’t know that-
It does look decidedly mainstream for one of his pictures…

    No offence, or anything…

Good thing they didn’t go the whole hog, and just do an all white album then…

I was there on Sunday and even with the picture in hand I wouldn’t have recognized it.

Very nice John. With those rich blacks it might look well printed on metallic paper.
