I can’t decide if this B&W version on my Whitepark Bay image is stronger with the burnt out areas of the sky patched over or not.

I would be interested in hearing your views.

Only a print will really tell, but i prefer the patched version here as it stands…

When processing contrasty B&W images there is always a chance of blowing part of the sky out. I always duplicate the base layer at the start before and processing so that I can mask the blown highlights back in. In a separate layer where I have masked back in I then play with the contrast to make it fit back into the picture

This is a nice shot for B&W. I would however push the contrast more with an S shaped curve. B&W is all about mood, contrast and creative dodging and burning are used to help create this mood

Nice, simple photo. Agree with Martin on the b/w. I would also like the colour version with less contrast and saturation

The patched version is nice actually but IMO needs more contrast.

I think the colour version is really nice in its own right too.

Colour! B&W reduces the image about 50% because it is a celebration of colour, less composition party.

if you need to ( ; ….first b&w with some contrast adjustments in the sky to balance the heavy foreground. Cheers M*

colour version is much better, brings the composition alive in my opinion

The colour version for me is much stronger. The b and w without the blown out highlight looks much better of the two b an w’s. Beautiful image..
