Say goodbye to SB800

    Hi,

I’ve a Nikon D40 and hope to upgrade in a while. I’m looking for a flash I can bounce and use off camera? I don’t have a huge budget but would stretch to a second hand Nikon SB800. Anyone know of any reason why I shouldn’t get one and get a SIgma or an SB600 instead.

I’ve read a few reviews and there seems to be mixed opinion. I’d really like to know what you think?

    Thanks

Quite simple really. If you can afford the 800 get it, as its better than the sigma equivalent and the 600.

If you cant afford it go for the 600.

I have the sb600 and love it. As far as I can tell, the extra price tag on the 800 over the 600 is not worth it. I got 2x sb600’s for the price of an 800 :)

Of course it depends on what you are shooting. For large groups or fast firing stuff, then the speed and power of the 800 may be needed. The CLS may also be handy if you use it.
