I have a Manfrotto 074 tripod with an 029 MK2 head. It is a heavy duty tripod with braced legs and geared column, not something you would take on hikes or gentle strolls. It’s in perfect condition if you are interested. You didn’t say what your budget is but I would be looking for €250 for it if you are interested,

    Hi Karl,

This may or may not interest you.

I have an old(ish) aluminium Manfrotto 190 (at least I think it is a 190 i’ll check if you are interested) which is in need of much TLC due to too many seascapes, and not enough cleaning. Much like myself, it joints are starting to seize up with rust and sand.

I am not certain if it is beyond repair but is availible to you (or anyone else for that mater) for a nominal sum if you feel you have the patience to give it a go. I believe it needs a a good dose of wd40, a strip down, a clean and a rebuild. It shouldn’t be that difficult tbh but I don’t have time for tinkering these days. It is also missing one of it’s leg screws which you would need to source.

Also I am using the head on my new tripod so you would have to buy a head for it.

This probably doesn’t sound very attractive…. I’m not much of a salesman.

Let me know by PM if you are interested. I work in South Dublin so i am sure we could arrange something on delivery.

If it is a 190 and it is salvageable then I could get you the missing screw (I’m not much of a salesman either) The 190 would be considerably more affordable than my 074 offering but my 074 is like new in PWO and great value for money (I’m not really a salesman, honest) Seriously though, the 190 is a good tripod and if the screw and a bit of a clean up is all that’s wrong then I would have the screw here somewhere. Let me know if you want it,

Hey Gary, just looking at your website. I don’t think you need to be much of a salesman, your pictures should be able to sell themselves.
Particularly like the one called Manorola, great balance of artificial and ambient light.
Sorry Karl for going off track on this,

David, I dunno, you managed to sell me those few bits no problem…

I don’t suppose you’ve got the Manfrotto spare parts agency for Ireland?
Their spares section on their website is worse than useless-

I need a centre column locking thumbscrew for an 074B-
Don’t suppose you might have come across one of those?

Oh, and a centre column tensioning rod too…

    I know, pushing my luck…

The 074 is a great tripod, but you do need to be committed to use it-

I might have sold you stuff, but I managed to cash the cheque before you stopped it :D
Everything I sell usually falls apart only after the cheque clears, I have it down to a fine art.

On the 074 screw, I wouldn’t have that but I’ll check to see if any pieces on the 190 or 055 are similar. I have a couple of banjaxed ones here that I use for parts and if they are similar then I’ll send it on.
‘Centre column tensioning rod’??? Is this a wind up (I can be a bit nieve sometimes, OK a lot of the time) I can check to see if the 190 or 055 have similar and if so I’ll pass on aswell.

On the 074, yeh, I agree. A great solid tripod but I found the geared column and the braced legs very restricting when doing weddings but good for the studio. I used it very little in the end so it makes a good dust collector at home.

Sorry Karl, I’ve hijacked your thread again. That has to be worth an extra €30 off my asking price as compensation. (No, myself and Joseph aren’t a double act to help crank up my sales figures)

Thanks Steve, I’ve bodged bits to fit, so it still works fine-
    This post just reminded me…

‘Centre column tensioning rod’??? Is this a wind up?

Well, it is a wind up, but that’s not the bit I’m missing…

    Thanks for the response guys

I’m only really looking to spend around €100-150, and don’t really have the time or know how for repair work

If you have €150 notes then be sensible and buy something decent and new –

    £120

    £48
    http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Tripods/Manfrotto/Manfrotto-Compact-Ball-Tripod-Head-With-RC2-System

I use this combo a lot of the time. It’s worth the expense.

Thats circa €180… €30 over your budget, brand new, high quality gear.

Or you could also pick up a 190XPROB for £95 –
