Right I want to get back to shooting a bit of film…FM2

  • I shot b&w film for a good while before I got the d80, then kinda didn’t as I got to grips with digital but talking to Mark lately, and him keep buying film gear got me thinking.

The only film camera I have left was the first Nikon I ever bought a silver FM2, that I had never been able to bring myself to part with when I unloaded my other film gear.

So tonight I got it out the cupboard to get give it a clean in anticipation of getting some film.

It’s dirty, the film seals on the back are all shot.

Oh good God man, what have you done :D

On a more serious note, I didn’t realise that there would have been so much
    electronics inside it.

Yeah that’s all there is though, it’s the metering stuff and the hot shoe wiring

Took off 2 more screws so I could lift off the yoke in front of the prism, bit of work with an ear cleaning stick and the wee bit of fungus is gone

Just screwed that bit back on and cleaned up the top plate so I will try and get that back on after dinner and get the knobs back on before I forget how they came off!

Bit early to buy film but I am thinking Neopan 400, an old favourite :)

You should have called this thread ‘I’ll be Back’
cos it looks a bit like a Terminator-

Hope it looks like a camera now-

    top plate back on

all the knobs back on and still working

meter working fine still, phew :)

just replaced all the back door film seals

and masked up and resprayed the black on the film door because it looked very tatty

off to bed now so tomorrow I have to replace the mirror foam as that is falling apart

hot shoe and flash caps ordered from ebay

need to think about a lens for it as all I have is a 55mm AI micro f3.5 but I fancy something a bit faster…
