This is the Wetterhorn, above Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland. Taken about a month ago.
C&C welcome

How does this look B&W? The contrasts look made for it.
Something like this
BallymanParticipantYep :)
This is even better I think. You’ve lost a little detail on the front of the cabin but the contrast and light on the mountain is great.
thedarkroomParticipantI like a good black and white landscape (Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter, etc. etc.) but I think in this case the colour works best. The chalets in the foreground merge too much with the rear landscape and lose impact in the B&W shot but in the colour they separate better and give more depth.

thedarkroomParticipantI’m always telling the wife that some day we’re going to go on a skiing holiday, but without the skis. I think if I show her this photo it might spur things on a bit. The scenery looks spectacular.

One reason that we like Grindelwald so much is the winter walking — neither of us ski, though the kids or [or snowboard].
Grindlewald has lots of winter walking routes, all well kept, easy to get to and from, and there are refreshment stations en route.
Other places in Switzerland cater mainly for skiiers, and don’t have so much for walkers. Were you to go along the route we
took you would also see:The Eiger
The Mattenberg to the right, and the Wetterhorn in the centre

Thanks; I couldn’t get the cabins quite right — the wood is quite dark anyway.

b318ispParticipantI can’t wait to go on a snow holiday, these shots are spellbinding. Great exposure too.
mgstParticipantrc53MemberThanks all for the kind comments. A quick google for grindelwaldtourism gives lots of info.
I’ve reworked the b/w version above; I’m not quite so pleased, but do you think it’s better?andy mcinroyParticipantVery nice shots Robert.
The 1st colour version is my favorite. That is quite a mountain!!
Amazing depth of snow on the roof too.

RobMemberThat’s some stunning landscape you have access to there Robert. Wonderful stuff…
rc53MemberThanks for looking and the comments. The pix are a bit in the ‘chocolate box/jigsaw’ style,
but then the scenery is majestic, and seems to suit this style, though I really prefer
something plainer.
