Camera advice

    Hey everyone :)

Hoping you all can help on this one. Am in the market for a camera and have narrowed down my choices to either a Nikon or Canon (they’re pretty much the market leaders from what I have read and let’s face it, that’s always a good thing in my book). I’m willing to spend up to or just over the €1,000 mark. I want to go with the dslr, I’m pretty serious about building a career and want to start as I mean to go on.

I do have my little heart set on a Canon EOS 50D but have been put off somewhat by people’s comments on the weight etc. Am a bit of a slip of a girl type and don’t want a camera that requires my going to the gym to build up muscles for!!

Have also been looking at the Nikon D90, which is a tad cheaper (YAY – more money for other toys!).

Both of these cameras I’d be thinking about buying body only and getting the lenses after the fact, as I was advised that the lenses that come with the starter kits leave a little to be desired.

Any help or advice you learned ones could offer would be great, I am EXTREMELY new to all of this so please not too technical, or I’ll be all day googling stuff

Oh and another point in favour of the Canon is the fact the boyfriend has Canon’s, and spare lenses I could beg/borrow/steal till I have my own collection up n running

Why not look for a second hand 40D from Canon. I dont know if the 50D is as good as people say. I have a 40D and its a great camera and a real “All Rounder” landscapes .wildlife, sports etc.
For €1000 you could pick up a camera and a lens

Thanks Dan, that’s kinda what I’m looking for alright, an all-singing, all-dancing type for now :)

Will have a gander round at the 2nd hand 40D’s, if they can save me a few quid happy days! All the more money to spend on lenses n the like! 8)
