How to go about submitting photos…

Hi All
I have a quick question for you which I hope you can help me with..
Ive been taking pictures for about a year now with a DSLR and I sometimes take a pic that I think may be useful/interesting to companies/organisations etc..
I often read the members anouncements about people getting published but my question is “When you have a pic you may think is worthwhile how do you send it to a group that may be interested?”
Do you just grab the contact email off their webpage and email it or how do people generally do it if you dont have a contact?
