First try at long exposures.

Getting out of my comfort zone and trying some landscape shooting for a change from macros.

This was taken in Antrim on the shore of Lough Neagh Northern Ireland this evening.

First try with the new B+W 110 filter, exposure was 196 seconds, rather impressed.

Only pp was to resize for web, prolly could do wih some noise reduction etc but wanted to see what I can get straight from the camera.

Cheers for looking, comments etc appreciated.

That’s nice. I’d possibly crop some off the front where there isn’t a huge amount of detail.

    The streaky clouds are cool.

    Hi Gareth,

I’d be very happy if I had taken this.

Perhaps a little too much blackish area
in the bottom area buy hey it’s nice.

I think I can see a few little spots too, maybe sensor dust?

    Well done,

    John.

Very decent effort, I’d be embarrassed to post my first efforts.

196 seconds…..I wonder if the exposure had been say 30 seconds or 15 seconds would the result have been much different? Any thoughts anyone?

    Cheers for the comment.

The results with a shorter exposure would have been very different.
The long exposure has resulted in the waves turning out smooth and nearly mirror like, which is the effect i was trying for.

    Cheers Gareth

    Gareth,

Stunning image. The sky trails are very nice, as is the colour on the water.
My ony suggestion would be to try trimming some off the bottom just as the tree shadow ends.

    Cracking image, well done.

But would you not get the same impact on a 30 second exposure? i.e. the silvery look….

Very impressive, I’d agree with the cropping comments.

I’ve had one of these filters on order for yonks, still waiting…

Really good but would definitely crop the bottom third…..good start with your ND.
