Great detail in these shots, It looks like the herons have hair rather than feathers on their necks !

    Nice shots Noel.
I like the backlit affect in the second shot. very nice and reveals a good amount of detail on the beak

The first is very good Noely. I prefer the darker background.

Is this the chap that visits your garden? Do you live near a river?

Thanks for all the comments guys, this is the chap that sits on my wall every morning waiting for dog food, sardines and whatever else he can get!
I live about 500m from a river where approx 6 Herons hang about,Little egrets frequent too and a Dipper occasionally.
It’s got to the stage now where I can call the male heron from across the field using hand gestures ( Dont ask )

It’s great to have a rapport with the birds like that. I could spend hours with the little Robin who’d eat from my hand in our old house… t’was almost a therapeutic in many respects.

These are so sharp Noely..Herons always look like they are smart and smiling~~

I cant choose the best one…and I am not sure what it says about my brain…but I prefer the beak pointed to the left :D

Ooooh…..a lefty  When you can commune with wild creatures on their own terms its a very spiritual thing….thats my paganism rearing its head
