i am using a canon 1000D all the pictures i took came out in jpeg only, i had the camera set on raw can anyone tell me why this happened? and can i get them back to raw. thanks
You were probably using one of the preset shooting modes (Auto, Landscape, Sport etc).
You have to use AV, TV or M mode for the files to come out in RAW.

the one thing that appeals to me about the sony range is the Z E I S S Glass HHHHHHHHHmmmmmm!
Nfl is right about the Canon, those pre-set modes are really limiting.
thanks for the reply, yes i had the camera set on AV for about 90% of the shots i took.
So… you were shooting in Aperture Priority Mode (Av), had the camera set to RAW and they still came out as JPG?
See if there is a firmware update and apply it e.g.
http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eosdigital5/firmware.html
If that doesn’t work then it’s needs to be seen to professionally.
