Thats an angle you’ve gone for there !! Probably a little too extreme for me

You’ve got nie depth of field here – she is super sharp and the background is nice and blurred.. but a bit flat …my suggestion would be to crop out the dead sky , and work on bringing out more contrast in the image over all

Agree with Lorraine – the angle is too extreme.

Thanks very much for the feedback. I was going for an extreme effect, and it sounds like I achieved that at least :)

This one is a little less extreme

Much nicer John – you have captured the subtle colours beautfully, and the subject’s contrast using the dof works really well!

You got everything right on the second one..nice photo!

I could see where you were going with the first..but it just seemed a bit too dramatic to view with ease.

    Hi there

I must say that if I was trying to pick between these two shots for a newspaper or magazine – the first would win hands down.

The relative angle of the background drops off to the left beautifully and really gives the subject extra punch – almost giving it motion.

Also – the contrast is much flatter in the second example – obviously that could be treated but I am just calling it as I see it.

Finally – the first image has a candid quality as the eyes are less visible and the subject appears less posed.

Now, if only I could take pictures as well as judging them I would be a far happier person!

    Great pic, thanks.
