No, he’s alive – I don’t take dead birds – he is standing on a slope hence the angle.
Alan RossiterParticipantMy first thoughts were the same as Jennys – is it dead? It’s the weirdest looking jackdaw I’ve ever seen. There seems to be some very strong lighting on him to lighten it’s feathers to grey like that. Is it natural daylight?
AlanshutterbugParticipantSorry Eugene I didnt mean to offend, he just looked a little strange,
almost comical with his eye popping like that, I swear he is smiling
too :)CanonisedParticipantirishwonkafan wrote:

AlanTaken in sunlight, around 3 pm last Monday, a beautiful sunny day.
Here is a quote from a bird article: “the Jackdaw has a grey back to its head and neck. The Jackdaw’s conspicuous white eye gives him a unique ‘personality'”CanonisedParticipantshutterbug wrote:

Alan RossiterParticipantI wasn’t suggesting it wasn’t a jackdaw or different than the normal jackdaw – the representation you show gives it a peculiar look – one that wouldn’t be a common sight.

Sorry Alan, I meant the bird description in answer to Jenny’s reply.
There were a pair of them, both looking identical, exactly the same appearance.
