Standing Stones at Ballinskelligs – added another panorama

  • Hi folks, i needed a one week break to see something different than my screen. :shock: Anyway…the break is over. this is a megalith by Ballinskelligs, taken yesterday evening. Feedback welcome….and i decided to soften the watermark ( ;

    Edit today this panorama, taken 30 min later during sunset.

    Thats very nice, great composition and colours.

    Love the new subdued watermark…… not as “”in your face” as before!

    I find the vast majority of the scene quite pleasant, but personally I wouldn’t be too gone on the standing stones as a focal point for the composition.

    Alone I find them to be a bit un-interesting, you add in the beautiful backdrop and it pulls the image up to an acceptable level. They also split through those lovely mountains in the background.

    Nice shot and the usual neat light and great clarity from these.
    the new watermark looks great, can now see most of the image. not to mention copy, clone and re-sell :-) Joking ofcourse

    Agree with the god of general chat here M I find the standing stone to over powering
    Also the foreground grass seem a tad over saturated but that could be my monitor.

    I suppose if you’re going to take a photograph of standing stones, there needs to be stones, they need to be standing and they need to be in the picture. It helps when there is a remarkable backdrop as well.

    I like it Madeleine. It is very much in your style – fine art with some compositional ingenuity/innovation.

    Good to see you back.

    i really like it, i dont mind the stones at all.

    But i think it would work better wider, so you could see the edge of the lake on LHS, maybe even a panoramic width

    thanks to everybody.

    Nfl-fan: I agree that megaliths photography needs some excitment in the landscape to become interesting. The location, sea and clouds delivered this day ( :

    Deebo: do so and i will become rich ( ;

    Cathald: …maybe it is my screen as well. Have other composition and panos as well. Will process them soon. I am sure that a panorama will be more balanced. This image composition is attractiv for pure Megaliths lovers.

    BM: thank you for your lovely words. I am focusing more on the connection of the stones and its surrounding landscape instead of just focusing on the stones….the essence of the ritual was related to the landscape coordinates.

    Steve: will process the panorama soon. Nice to see you here Steve. will have a print Job for you soon ( :

    Beautiful shots, love the colours and light, the saturation looks spot on to me eyes, and realy like the stone as the focal point, but great scenary to show it off.

    Awesome work once again.

    The first image is beautifully processed. Really sharp but not oversharpened either.

    The colours are spectacular.

    Good job on the watermark too. I think this one looks much better.

    i know that the perspective is a bit “strange” but i liked the dialog between stone and mountains – so similar.
