Developer for Neopan

Just getting back to a dabble with film. I used to shoot b&w, send it off, then scan it when I had it back. I found Neopan 400 a nice film and it seemed to scan well.
Now I want to try again but I want to dev this time too. I am sticking with Neopan for the time being I think so trying to figure out what developer to use.
Rodinal 1:50 has been suggested to me as it’s cheap, last for ages and is easy to deal with. I understand it may empasize the grain a little?
Any other suggestions before I get some Rodinal? Bearing in mind I want to scan and this will be my first dabbles at developing.
cheers
ShawnthefizzParticipantTmax and Rodinal Special would be two favorites of mine for less emphasized grain, although I never used Neopan much but these developers work well on many other films.
Edit: I should add that the times given by the manufacturer for Rodinal Special are too short at 1:15 so I always use it at 1:30 but a bit of testing is required to do this so maybe its not one to try if you are only starting. Ilford’s DXX would also be good all round developer.
There is so much choice, I think you should get whichever is readily available and go with that for a while.

MartinParticipantI shoot allot of 120 Neopan 400 in Rodinal 1+50
You don’t say what size of film you use, eg 35mm or 120 roll film, makes a deference…
Rodinal is nice for 120 film but I think for 35mm it would be too grainy and not very sharp looking. If grain is what you want then go for it…

I don’t want huge grain as negs like that dont seem to scan as nicely
jessthespringerParticipantI use Kodak HC 110 developer, because, it’s what they had in the shop, the day I went to buy some.
I like it, I think it can enhance the grain of some films, I think.
Can’t say I’ve noticed that, but I don’t have anything to compare to.Sinead
