Basic text on exposure, etc.

    Hi folks –
Just curious if anyone has a favourite book on the basics of using a camera – shutter speed, aperture, ISO, depth of field etc. Nothing fancy or too technical.

A favourite of mine is Ansel Adams’ ‘The Camera’, but it’s a bit dense for a beginner, I think.

    Cheers,
    Peter

Well I can’t say favourite as it is the only one I have, but Peterson’s “Understanding Exposure” is great.
It seems to be a canonical text on the subject, from all the recommendations it gets.
    And not overwhelming at all.

I second Martins choice, have read it a few times, easy to understand and
definitely helped me to “understand exposure” more.

Thanks folks – I’ll order that and see how it is.

Looking for a standard text to recommend to students.

    Cheers,

I think it would be an excellent choice for beginners, I think it was after reading
it that I said “Ahh now I get it” :) Simple easy to follow would repeat the important
bits throughout the book so that it really sunk in.

Any other options for this? Peterson’s book is indeed simple, but would like to explore the available choices a bit more before deciding.

There is always DSLR for Dummies (hate those titles!) but they are very
    easy to understand?
