MarkKeymasterBest to post to the critique forums if you’re looking for feedback.
You won’t get too much outside of those forums.thanks
milo123Participantthanks Mark but would like to enter them as Sunday Morning shots.
is there a critique forum for this sort of thing or can I set one up.MarkKeymasterMilo,
There are several critique forums just further down on the site.
They’re split out by genre.thanks
MarkCooksterParticipantHi Milo,
Welcome to the site. I’d like to comment on these too. If you put them under LANDSCAPE for the beaches, PEOPLE for the people, or EVERYTHING ELSE if you want to keep them together. Just keep calling them Sunday Mornin if thats what you want.
Lots of people will look, few will comment. It helps, if you want feedback, to only put a couple of pictures on each thread. Also if the images are embedded and resized to fit the screen (800 bit wide) people can view the images clearer and faster.
Have a look at

milo123Participant5faytheParticipantHi Milo,
Welcome to the site. You got some good advice above.
You asked for some comment on the images so even though this
is not a critique category here goes.I am not an expert on any genre of photography so this is just my humble opinion.
#1 seems to lack an obvious subject. There dosen’t seem to be something to hold the viewers attention.
What were you trying to show a viewer or what message was the image trying to convey?
There’s the boats, the life buoy, the water, or the pipe.
You could have isolated a part of the scene as the subject or gone wider and showed the whole
area.#2 is quite an interesting scene. There is a lot of sky even though the clouds are quite good.
More expert members could probably comment on the composition.
I quite like it.#3 has a number of technical issues.
The horizon is not straight resulting in a slanting image. This can be fixed in software but you
then lose some of the image when you crop out the blank areas caused by the straighten.
It is something to watch out for when taking a shot. The people in the foreground, who may be your intended subject, are not places on a third. The rule of
thirds can be a good aid to an interesting composition. Like all rules it can be broken but better to break it
on purpose. The foreground is also quite dark. This is a common occurance when a camera automatically meters for
the whole scene and part of that scene (the sky) is very bright. The exposure setting can cause the sky to be
bright and the land to be dark. This can sometimes be sorted out with software. It can also be taken account
of when taking the shot. For example you can use special filters which hold back the sky or take 2 shots. One
is metered for the sky, one is metered for the land and they can be combined in software. The subject in #4 is placed diagonally across the frame which is unusual. It also looks a little soft. With portraits it is
generally recommended to have the eyes of the subject sharply focussed. Again you may have intended
the image to look as it does.#5 is probably a good photo for your family album. In my opinion it might not have much interest for
an unconnected viewer.#6 is also a little dark and also maybe a little soft.
It would be better IMO if the whole of the bicycle was included and maybe panned to give
a sense of movement. These are just my honest opinions of your images. The rules and techniques of photography are
very handy to know. It is not always necessary to follow them but if you break them you break them
knowingly. The advice about embedding your images and only posting 1 or 2 at a time is good advice.
I had to keeping clicking to another site to see your images while I was writing this reply.
About an hour ago I had just completed it when I accidentally clicked out of my reply instead
of out of the other site and lost everything that I had written.Cheers,
