Bluebells again
-
AedanCParticipant
I debated whether to put this in landscape or wildlife, I eventually decided to put it here as there is a bit of a bluebell theme going on here at the moment.
I was photographing bluebells with a wide angle lens when I spotted that I was being watched, I managed to change to the 400mm before he or she decided to depart.
All comments and criticisms welcome.

kenhParticipantHi Aedan, just one negative is that it is a bit soft overall,
HOWEVER,
fantastic shot, with the colours, light and your watcher – you must have ben thrilled to catch
her like that!AedanCParticipantHi Ken,
You are absolutely right. I’ve just spotted that I exported it from Lightroom with sharpening turned completely off. I’ve changed the image, hopefully it’s a bit better now. Thanks for pointing that out.

GoosebankerParticipantFantastic. Really lovely envionmental shot, the light is nice and the blue against green really sets the image off. Print it big!

My first impression was wow, but there is something not quite right that I can’t quite put my finger on.
If I compare the relative length of the fur on the deer and the bluebells around it, it just doesn’t seem to tally. Perhaps it is some weird effect of the long lens, but it just looks a bit strange to my eyes. Are the bluebells in front of the deer or behind it?

I think you’re being too literal Andy. Or are you?
If you’ve something on your mind then spit it out.Aedan, it’s not usually helpful to replace the photo after
people have commented on it because it kinda makes nonsense
of what people have said.Nice picture.

Hi Andy,
It does look a bit unusual doesn’t it? The deer is in the bluebells, there are some in front of her and some behind. They seemed to me to be exceptionally tall bluebells, look at the ones touchig her chest between her front legs fpr example. There are also bluebells to her left (right of her as we view it) that seem extraordinarily tall, I wonder are they on a bank or something? It was taken at 400mm which may also alter the perspective a bit. Other than that it is a combination of two photos, I was taking HDR sequences when I saw her so the camera was set up for bracketing, she was standing still enough for three frames to be combined to get the exposure OK across the frame.

Point taken, I didn’t think of that, I just rushed in to fix my mistake. I won’t do it again. Apologies to all and particularly to Ken for any confusion caused.

PeteTheBlokeMemberNo apology needed. In this case it’s not all that relevant, but
sometimes it leaves the commentor looking a bit stupid (or blind).andy mcinroyParticipantWell done Aedan, I’m not a regular user of long lenses so sometimes my eye and brain begin to play tricks on me.
Very well captured.

Andy, I don’t think there is anything wrong with your eyes and brain at all. I also think there is something a small bit odd about it, but I can’t put my finger on it. Whatever it is, I hope it’s not too bad.
