Beginner DSLR with video option

    Hi

Friend of mine is looking to upgrade from compact to DSLR but is looking for the option of taking video clips aswell.

Im familiar with the Canon models and would recommend him the 450D or the 1000D if he wasnt looking for the video option.

Is there anything in the Nikon or sony fields worth a look as the 500D is outside his budget

While it’s in the same price bracket as the 500D Nikon have just released the D5000 with HD Video option. It’s in Irish shops now, I saw it in Conn’s and the Dublin Camera Exchange on Saturday,

Thanks guys………..thinking afterwards that maybe a ‘super’ compact would be a better option for him………especially since he wants the vids.

Any stand out options people recommend

Casio EXILIM Pro EX-F1. Shoots photos at 60FPS and it can record video up to 1200fps. Never tried one but tempted to get it to just mess about with slo-mo video.
