A small selection from my first wedding……..which may i add thoroughly enjoyed.
Sean.
DeeboParticipantReally nice set Sean and I am sure the happy couple will really like these.
Lovely location and just a pity the weather was not playing ball, but the dull day probably helped with exposure on the pure whites.
3rd and last are my fave of the bunch, with the 3rd shot very smart and great details in the dress. some might need a slight rotation
Well done
DeeExpresbroParticipantThe last two and also number 4 would be my favourites Sean. That’s a fantastic backdrop to have for a group shot.
Congrats on your first shoot. I’m sure there’ll be plenty more to come now.
Robbie
8)soleemanMembereasParticipantWell done Sean, Where the couple family or friends?
Just a little critique below, one at a time.
I wonder if number 1would be better if you got the kiss itself rather than the moment just before? I also think there’s too much competition between the background and the couple. Maybe a longer lens would have helped here?
Number 2 is sweet, I love the look on the girl on the left. Obviously the corner of the table is a touch distracting, and the crop at the ankles is slightly awkward to me.
Number 3 is great.
Again, in number 4 I think the background is a bit distracting and competing with the subjects rather than complimenting the scene. I also wonder if color would be better to show off the kilts?
Number 5 is a nice moment, the groom looks like the type that it may be hard to get a genuine smile out of him for the camera. The bouquet directly behind the his head is bit of a pity.
Number 6 – Cute fella, location seems a bit odd and maybe getting down lower would have worked a bit better? Again I wonder if color would be a better choice for the kilt?
Number 7 – The set up has good potential – closer attention to the placement and composition would have paid off. Spreading people out a bit more and placing the flower girls directly between the couples maybe? It’s a good idea to frame the group shots so they can easily be cropped for 5:4 or 3:2 just in case. These are most likely to end up in frames, so it’s a good idea to leave a bit of room around the edges.
Number 8 – I like it but think maybe a bit more encouragement may have gotten something a bit more out of the couple? Again, there seems to be too much DOF in the shot.
This is my take on them, so. Overall I think it’s a job well done.
Where you able to get any in the ceremony? Did you find anything in particular more challenging than you expected?
summerdreamnMembergreat first wedding! congratulations.
like the group shots. i like your groupings though the couple at the very back may have been more visible if you were standing further to the right (of the screen), maybe?

Thanks for taking the time to comment mate……no not family or friends.
He is from scotland(well obviously ,lol) Starting at number 8, i spent a couple of minutes with each pose..kissing looking away etc so i have another four or five from that pose. As you can see, it was a very windy, and drizzly day . I was worrried about the dark faces so used my lightsphere for fill most of the day, therefore the shallow DOF. Maybe i was wrong, but the bridel party was getting damp etc and i had to make sure of the shots.
When i went over the pics this week, there was loat of things i would have done differently, but am just happy i got shots at the locations they liked. I took a few shots with my 70-200 but alll the faces were a bit dull so kept to the 24-70 with fill for the day.
The ceremony was ok, had a chat to the priest before the wedding and asked what i could do, and not do. Got all the main shots i think, candles’rings’up the isle’candids etc.
Thanks for the tip about the group shots for croping, as i found a few a bit tight later.
The girl is from Moville, and wanted background in the shots so shes happy enough.
The group shot was starting to drizzle, and did not have time to do what i wantd either, had to make do with that shot.
The only thing about the day i did not like was…….about an hour at the hotel doind poses group shots, they had alot of relations, and wee were then not able to go out to the gardens. I should have said earlier to them. I dont thnik i was forceful enough on the day either.
Thanks,
sean.

Thanks summer, yeah i got one to the right, but the wee boy was crying, and the bride looking away.
Sean.
CianMcLiamParticipantGreat shots there Sean! One hour doing group shots, holy! I thought the half hour I spent was torture :)
I think using a longer lens on the outdoor shots might have seperated the people from the background a touch more though it looks windy so they might not have been able to hear you! Well done on keeping the hair in face thing under control, that was one thing that spoiled a lot of my shots because I couldn’t see the screen on the back in the bright sunlight.
Great to hear you enjoyed the day so much, you might have been born for this kind of thing so!
