Rob, images are sharp and well toned but none of them move me I’m afraid. My thought would be, what would a crop of the branches above the moving person look like in B&W? The fake stars don’t do it for me either.
Sorry chief,
Dave.
RASMITH32MemberThanks Dave, I’m just trying to figure out if that is a personal taste thing or if the pictures are actually lacking in something?. I loved the colours and the way the sunken rockface reached out towards the island and distant peaks, obviously the rolling mist was also an instant attraction when setting up. It did cross my mind that there was a lot of space in the shots which was why I caught the boat in the last.
Re the cropping / B&W/Sunburst effect on #2. I was aiming for a surreal image in this one , wizard of Oz type effect and my thought was that whilst the entangled and overhanging branches creates something that is dark and worrysome to a child , lighting and colouring converts that feeling and supports her happily skipping along the path. I think to crop and convert to B&W would significantly change the feel of that shot . Look at how the mood changes when you scroll down and loose the colour and light from above :-)
BallistiXParticipantA taste difference for sure, and as you have said, you had a visual in mind re the starburst skipping under trees image, you saw that, I don’t. that is one of the things I love about this hobby, so many differing tastes and bits n bobs to see, try and begin to find some competence for what we individually like.
Beyond Jean Michel Berts, I’m looking at these to guys this week and it’s such a far way from what I initially thought photography was about, 9 months ago.
