More shots, more thoughts, same wedding.

Here’s some more shots from the day. I think the pro/amatuer divide will always be consistency, I could get a few good shots over the course of the day but the overall results are a mixed bag of the good, bad and ugly. We’re getting further down the line with these!
My wife doesn’t have a photo of her shoes from her wedding day, this obviously leaves a shoe shaped gap in the soul because the one bit of advice my wife kept giving me was ‘get the shoes, dont forget the shoes!!’ I wasn’t at the brides home but tried to catch them as she got out of the car.
1.
2.This is the bridal party arriving at the hotel, I hadn’t factored in that over 160 guests would be arriving in front of me and I found myself in a long queue waiting to enter the carpark while a lane was cleared for the bridal party! I managed to get the attention of a staff member who directed me to a space straight away, phew!
3.This doorway is all messed up, I’d love to go back and see was it really laid out during a black stormy night of torrential rain or have I managed to contort it so much! Pose is not as relaxed and natural as I would have liked, but then the only experience I had of ordering people to kiss on demand is when the grandparents come to visit our one and a half year old.
4.I’m quite happy with this one and cropped it roughly for an 8×10 size print.
5.A lot of fill flash on this one, you can see how sunny it actually got.
6.Hand in hand back to the venue (though we cheated, the hotel provided a golf cart to run us around!)
7.Not too sure about this one:
8.Might revisit this one, not happy with colours, sharpness or overall contrast with this but that dress is in real danger of vanishing.
9.But there’s a bit of a romantic in everyone!
10.markst33ParticipantHi Cian, I have had a look at all the wedding shots you have done and posted here and I think (for what its worth) you did a great job. I reckon the happy couple will be very happy with your work (unless they are both professional photgraphers and mean with it :)
You have a good mixture of candid, posed, the usual expected wedding shots and imaginative ones too.
markcapilitanParticipantNice stuff….I done one in LR a couple of weeks back…it was way too sunny for me to do virtually anything in the gardens…so I done it all in the shade of the trees on the paths up! So much nicer! Remember, backgrounds don’t really matter (to a point), light is more important.
DeeboParticipantGreat set, been very impressed by these shots and the last series.
Some very memorable shots for the couple to back on. The waiter shot is excellent.
Good work
deeb318ispParticipanteasParticipantvery nice again Ken,
something nice to keep in the arsenal for the very sunny days are shadow pics, for example no.8 – I think a nice alternative to your shot was the full shadow showing the hands being held with maybe just the feet at the top of the frame? or Maybe not.
CianMcLiamParticipantCheers for the comments folks.
markcapilitan: It was me that was in touch with you in the weeks before the wedding :) Thanks again for your advice. The forecast was for heavy rain so I had everything planned for locations inside the house but the sun came out at the last minute. The couple were keen on getting some shots in the gardens so I agreed as long as we left time for some more in the house and around in the shade, think I got everything covered then.
btw, I met a couple at the hotel next morning that have booked their wedding there, I passed on your site details as they’re looking for a photographer in that part of the country (and my wife is due around the date of their wedding!).eas: Yep, would have made an interesting shot, I must have a look through the others shot here to see if I can crop. These were the first couple shots I took at the venue so we were all a little unsure and it shows on them all, wasn’t long after that we got into the swing though!
PD_BARBSParticipantI know nothing about shooting weddings, but to me this is a great set of shots, your own crtique seems to be spot on, you know which ones worked and which ones needed adjusting.
Nice work and I agree about the one with the tray a cracking shot.
sean1098MemberAnother lovely set Cian…….Its all been said already. Love the mono shots
