We have had a few beautiful evenings round Rosslare this week.

Last night I called to one of my favourite local locations with a view to
getting a new view of the much photographed boats there.

Instead I found a tree growing in the water.

    Hi John
Nice set of shots, the first edges it for me too, I thinks its the deep reds of the suns and reflections

    Thanks Dee,

The shots were 10 minutes apart.
It always amazes me how light can change in minutes.

Nice shots John, only critique is that the horizons are fairly central, but don’t detract.

    How did I miss this earlier . . .

John I really like those 2.

The rich sunset colours in the first makes it really appealing
and the light pastel soft colours in the second are just as appealing.

A very simple shot that works well.

    Nice one John.

What filter did you use for the first one?

I normally use a cokin 3 stop but it isn’t really enough when the sun is that high and stacking cokins is a No No due to severe colour casts.

Thanks Brendan. The horizon is quite central but the tree is growing in the
water and I wanted as much of the reflection as possible in frame.
If I framed for the horizon on a third the tree was imo too small.

Thanks Freddie59 for your kind comment.

Hi Alan. Thanks for your reply. This is one of the places I visit most often and normally
shoot the couple of boats there. Hadn’t noticed this tree before.

Thanks Ballyman for your reply. The only filter I have is a polarizer.
The sun was quite low when I took #1.
I selectively used levels in PS Elements 4 to balance out the exposures.
The sun is still a little bright.
I have some shots from a little earlier but the sun was too bright.
I should really look into some ND Grads.

    Cheers all.

    John.
