Might I suggest you rename this image? When I saw it at first I said “not another swan with a reflection in a pond” but I’m glad I clicked on it. It’s quite unusual and has me wondering on where you were at the time. Is it a remote shot? The detail is excellent as is the peculiar stance. Very unusual…now just name it to help people look at it. ;-)

bernard0368ParticipantThanks wonka, this was taken using a sigma 10-20. It is one of the swans at the harbour in Bray. They are used to people coming close to them so it was a little easier to get the shot I was looking for. It took a lot of patience sitting close to him before he accepted I wasn’t a threat.
PadraigParticipantGreat to see a new perspective on such a common subject. Its one to be proud of.
GoosebankerParticipantReally unusual, well done on that one. The contrast of white on blue works well and the sharpness and detail is excellent especially since it must have been taken hand held.
flim flamParticipantMallachtParticipantGood shot, great to be able to get that close you must have patience, fair dues
MartinOCParticipantCool photo, I’m not sure what the original title was but I’m with Wonka in that I would probably not have clicked if I thought it was a swan.
But it is very nice so I stand corrected.Martin
PitmaticMemberdefo the most interesting swan photo in ages :)
of course what really happened was photo was taken as photographer was knocked unconcious… :)
hotjohn01Participant“THE” most original swan photo i’ve ever seen. I appreciate your patience, ive had these guys hiss at me before !!!
bingbongbiddleyParticipantReally great image. As said already very original. Smashin’ stuff, well done.
RedtopParticipantmiki gParticipantBallymanParticipantDid you put the sky in afterwards? If not, I;d be interested to hear how it didn’t blow out when exposing for the underneath of the swan as you didn’t seem to use flash, or did you?? Cheers.
Excellent shot by the way.
bernard0368ParticipantThanks everyone, Ballyman that is as was taken just a tweak of saturation in PS (not good enough to change the sky). I was about six inches from this lad and there were twenty more around me I was not going to use a flash for fear of spooking them. These lads are well used to people with a bit of patience you can get fairly close. A pack of bird seed can also help.
