    Beautiful shot Peter, such detail!

Nicely positioned with the green background. A bit of shame about the wing crop, but no biggy.
I’ll have to get out hunting for butterflies myself.

Cheers :) Yeah the wing crop annoyed me too, the guy was bobbing up and down so fast it was quite difficult. I have some with the wings bang on but without the pin sharp focus on the eyes. Anyone got any other good location suggestions for insect Macro work?

I know what you mean, I’ve gotten a few butterfly shots but but have taken hundreds of shots machine-gun style to get them.

    Too go off topic…
I saw on your flickr that you use a 5D MkII, I was wondering how you find the auto-fucus.
I want to eventually upgrade my 400D but the main problem I have with it is the auto-focus. Is the 5dII good? I ask as I believe the auto-focus was not upgraded from the old version.

Some other nice butterfly shots on the f site too.

    Hey Martin,

    Thanks :)

I love the 5DmkII but I dont find the autofocus much better than the origional 5d or the 40d I had before. I did own a 400D and I do find it better than that. One thing I would mention is the possibility of upgrading your focusing screen on your 400D. There are some great 3rd party ones that really enhance the autofocus.

    Cheers

Nice shot Peter. I wouldn’t worry about the cropped wing, the focus is spot on where it counts…..Mikka
