Evening in the Mountains
-
AedanCParticipant
I’m not sure about this one so I thought I’d throw it open for comments here. All comments and criticisms gratefully received.
Thanks in advance for all your help.
Aedan
bingbongbiddleyParticipantDefinitely original, moody and atmospheric but may lack a little something to me.
I think it works slightly better with some cropped off the bottom, either just above the darker row of trees or just under it.
Maybe a bit more contrast between the mountain would help add some punch also.
Just my €0.46.
PD_BARBSParticipantActually I like it,
I like the layers that are built up from the mountains, and that the tones and changes are subtle.
eshortieParticipantandy mcinroyParticipantAedan,
I like this very much indeed. In fact I would go as far as to say that I think this is inspired.
Simple and strong. I love the how the dark roughness of the tree tops in the foreground slowly receeds into the lighter and gentler hills behind.
I wouldn’t change this at all. Really excellent.
MallachtParticipant5faytheParticipantHi Aedan,
I like this a lot.
I like the 2 shades of trees and then the number of shades of mountain.
Can’t remember seeing an example like this in B&W before and to my
eye it works very well.Well done.
John.
aoluainParticipantYes Like this meself.
Something ‘fine art’ ish about it.
Medeleine posted something like this a number of months back
in cool blue tones. The range of tones in this are really good.
BUT . . .
It does lack just a little something . . . A border
to frame it, something simple.
Nice image nonethless.
Alan
AedanCParticipantThanks to you all for your input. Normally I’m one for strong colours so this was so far from my usual stuff that I wasn’t sure what I thought of it. However it’s growing on me.
Aoluain, you were right, I printed it off with a white border and that improved it a lot. I’m taking off a batch to be framed today and I’ll include it, hopefully that will enhance it further.
Bingbongbiddley, good suggestion about removing some from the bottom, I gave it a try and gazed at it for a long while, in the end I decided the dark foreground was important, without it the picture became very light. It was a close call though and I’m glad you suggested it.
Thanks again folk,
Aedan
