I stood at the edge of the forest and stared into their eyes, they were almost completely black now, they stared back, but we did not speak. The strangers who had become my companions would not look tonight, they were afraid and tired. I stayed until darkness grew near and was thankful it was summer and the days were long.
I returned to my fellow travelers, they were edgy and worried, three days had passed, we had still not seen the moon, and we heard no news of the Kiwi’s…

We sat in silence under the starless sky, and one by one, I watch them fall asleep, I did not trust them, but, I would not let it concern me tonight, I had more pressing thoughts…

I would not enter the forest without the Springer, she had gone with the Crocodile, to help him find his sphere, I knew her search would be successful but I worried about the Crocodile, he obsessed history would repeat itself and had become quite depressed, it saddened me to see him this way. We were old friends, he was loyal and the most excellent cyclist I had ever met.

I thought too of the Kiwi’s, they appeared foolish, but I knew them better than that. I did not fear for them. It puzzled me about the Hunter though, why had he let them travel alone? I hadn’t know him long, but since the moment we met I worried about him. He was brilliant, but quite mad…
