The Isle of Capri.

I was on hols in Sorrento, Italy recently and we took a boat trip over to Capri. Very beautiful place with lots of authentic Italian architecture, restaurants, homes and shops. Not a McDonalds in site and no restaurants with photographs of the food on display outside. You arrive into the harbour and disembark the ferry and this would be your first site.
As you can see it was quite an overcast day but it was still in the mid to high 20’s. You walk up the pier and come into the “Tourist trap” where there are shops and restaurants selling at over the odds but there are still some interesting sites.
We then got a taxi up to the top and main part of the island. Warning, if you go here do not try walking from the boat to the main town centre. Its is quite a walk, very very steep and the Italians seem to have an aversion to footpaths so as a result you will find yourself walking these narrow windy roads with traffic appearing around corners. Quite dangerous if you have kids with you.
However when you get to the town centre this is the site that greets you
as you can see in this one the weather cleared up :D For those of you who spot the water bottle, I was just about to take the shot when this guy wandered over and placed the bottle there. I was about to ask him to remove it when I noticed a load of people getting off the cable car and heading over to this view point so I had to just take the shot or I may not have got it.
The town itself is made up of lovely narrow little streets that you just wander around at your leisure
The houses themselves have lots of foliage and trees around them to provide shelter and shade which add lots of colour and contrast to the white buildings.
And some places are off limits to tourists
Thanks for looking.
bokehjuniorParticipantReally like #5 and #7 doorway and gateway, lovely composition and subdued colouring. Really nice. A different focal point for the column pic could have worked better or maybe a crop . Plastic water bottle kills it for me.
Capri Looks like a good spotSeaviewParticipantThese are also great Mark well captured. Really like the composition of number 3, the light leaves the shot down a little. I’m glad the afternoon brighten up for your trip. :D
