Hello from Dublin – loving the site already

  Hello all,

  Just discovered this site today and have already enjoyed reading through some of the threads. It’s great to see a photography discussion site with an Irish perspective. I’ve been on many photography forums but this one is more relevant to me as the I can actually go to the shops, events, locations etc mentioned in the threads.

  As for myself, Ive been interested in photography since about January 2005 when I got my first digital compact and went to visit friends in Spain where a friend showed me some basics. I’ve been hooked ever since.

  I graduated to a DSLR in September 2006 when I bought an Olympus E500 which served me very well over the years. In September 2008 I joined St Brigid’s Photo Club in Blanchardstown. This was the single biggest factor in helping me improve my photography and make some decent progress. I have learnt so much from my fellow club members in the past year and viewing their work has pushed me to produce better work and to experiment more. I am presenting my portfolio to the group tomorrow for the first time so a bit nervous. :?

  I have recently bought a Canon 40D and a Sigma EX lens, my first really decent lens. I switched to Canon for its wide range of lenses, accesibility to the second hand market and high performance.

  I really look forward to chatting with you here,viewing your work, learning new things and hopefully sharing a little knowledge too.
