Girl leaning against window

I saw this girl leaning against one of the windows of the building when I went back my home. It created an interesting composition and drived me to take out my camera to take a photo of it.

    Hi Bookworm,

This is an interesting image to view and it is well spotted.

The converging verticals do jar with me a bit.
This can be very easily fixed in software.
I have tried it and it comes out fine.
Of course you may have wished it to be as it is which is ok too.

    Cheers.

    John.

    Thanks John!
May I ask how you can fix the problem? using what software?

Between, I am now in Dublin and would like if you all members in this forum have any regular photography gathering here?
I would really appreciate to having the chance to learn from all of you!

    Hi Bookworm,

I use Photoshop Elements 4 (PE4) but the tool is available in all
Photoshop versions and probably in other software too.

I hope you don’t mind that I have included a version of your
    image below for demonstration purposes.

    Open the image into PE4.
I reduce the size of the image onscreen to leave some room to work.

    Image > Transform > Perspective
OK to create a background layer
OK (No real need to rename the layer) (A background layer is created)

Grab one of the corner handles visible at the top left or right of the image and
pull out until the image looks ok to you.
Click the “correct” symbol to OK the transform.
Layer > Flatten to flatten the image. (Get rid of the layer)

Save your image with a new filename.

    That’s what I do anyway.

I hope I have got everything right here.
If not I’m sure it will be pointed out.

We can take it as read that it would be better to get this right at the time of taking the shot .
Sometimes a shot can not be rescued successfully with this method as straightening one vertical
    can make other/s crooked.

    Cheers.

    John.

Many thanks for your detailed advice, John!
I will try it next time!
