Very nice Alan,
Great subject for IR and post processed very nicely
Well done
Mmiki gParticipantAnother great shot Alan. Just waiting to see an old steam train coming up the tracks. Well done
aoluainParticipantMick s and Martin, thanks for the Positive feedback,
much appreciated indeed.miki g, now that would have finished it off nicely,
I wonder will these tracks ever see a train again? This area which is about 3 miles from my house has
undergone some major cleaning/upgrading and
refurbishment in advance of the
‘western rail corridor’this station featured in ‘the Quiet Man’ movie
with John Wayne.more HERE
Again thanks guys.
lousyParticipantPoor John Wayne would turn in his grave!!!
No seriously, this is excellent.
I’ve been there myself and am a big fan of TQM.
Excellent image.Pat

Was just thinking the same thing myself, maybe you could superimpose it half opacity……even spookier :)
Lovely place tho, would like to live in a place like that.aoluainParticipantThanks guys,
Very glad people are liking it.
There was people living in this Jenny up
to a few months ago so It felt a bit wrong
to be trapesing around someones home . . .lousyParticipantHi Alan, is it vacant altogether now? Hope it doesn’t get vandalised. Last time I was there it was inhabited and quite tidy.
Pat
aoluainParticipantYea no life there at all now Pat.
The potential for vandalism is hugh here as it is a quiet
area and there are no shutters on the rear [pictured] windows
but there are on the front . . . I think.richiehatchMemberI really like this Alan…! Great conversion and feel to the image. As has been
said… spooky..! I would do just one thing. Either remove or clone back the TV
aerial that meets the top of the image. I’m a picky fecker I know..! hahahaRichie
aoluainParticipantNO your not Richie,
I was going to but it was late when I decided to call
it a night and didnt bother but I will be doing that for sure. Thanks for the heads up.
A
BrianParticipantpete4130MemberThis looks a little soft to me. Were you shooting on IR film and corrected for the shift in IR focus or was it a photoshop filter you used? The grass on the tracks in the foreground looks a bit blown to me. I’d love to see more detail here and a bit more of a tonal range across the entire image. It’s looking a bit washed out to me, particularly on the left hand side where the bushes are
aoluainParticipantThanks Brian, glad you like it.
Pete regarding the softness, yes correct it is soft for a number of reasons.
This was taken on the 5D with a 50 odd year old Nikkor-s lens manually focussed
and re focussed to the marked IR spot on the lens, which will inevitably be a
guesstimate and not exact if the initial focus point is off in the first place.I used on this lens an R72 filter. the exposure settings were f16, 30 seconds
ISO 200. Because of the long exposure even with “long exposure noise reduction”
on there is still going to be more noticable noise. With the 30 second exposure and the weather conditiond on the day which was
blustery there is movement on the vegitation which will reduce detail and clarity on
those that are moving over the 30 seconds. Here is a 100% crop of the centre
I agree with you regarding the left hand side it does seem to be low on contrast
see edited version below. Thanks for the heads up and the comments.
